We are Stepping for Life This Year

March 11, 2015
  • (March 11, 2015) – In a little under two months time DKI-CRCS will be participating in the Steps for Life. On May 3rd over 200 participants are expected to gather for a 5 km walk starting at the OPG Information Centre in Pickering. This is the Durham Region event, which takes place simultaneously with all the other 36 Steps for Life across Canada.Courtesy of the Steps for Life website “Steps for Life is a fun 5km fundraising walk to help support families affected by workplace tragedy. Created in 2004, it raises funds to support Threads of Life programs and services for families who’ve suffered from a workplace fatality, life-altering injury or occupational disease. It also raises awareness about the importance of health and safety within workplaces and to the public. It’s a unique way to educate your community about the devastating ripple effects of a workplace tragedy and how we can work together to prevent others from being injured or killed on the job.”In 2012, 2013, and 2014 DKI-CRCS had just over 30 water damage restoration staff, friends and family participate – the largest team in each event.“We take the health & safety of our employees very seriously, and we feel privileged to be a Community Leader for this event” explained Team Captain of CRCS, Ryan Douglas. This year we will be introducing a new aspect to our walk for the kids that take part. This year the kids will be encouraged to take part in a scavenger hunt during the walk along the route. “Homer” from Home Depot will be on hand to assist the kids with mini wood race car building as a part of the Home Depot activity zone prior to the walk.

The disaster restoration experts at DKI-CRCS would like to encourage your support and sponsor their team, or join the event and be a part of this incredibly important fundraising event.
