Over 1000 Shoes Collected for Charity

August 24, 2013

(August 24th – 2013) – Just over 5000 runners descended on Albion Hills Conservation Area, near Bolton Ontario this past weekend for a day filled with mud, huge obstacles, and huge water slides. Mud Hero Toronto was the final stop of the 6 obstacle runs that have been held across Canada this summer.

CRCS Disaster Kleenup partnered with the Toronto event to collect muddy shoes from participants willing to donate their shoes. CRCS Disaster Kleenup was able to collect over 1000 shoes, which will be cleaned using state of the art restoration techniques in their Oshawa facility. The shoes will then be donated to Soles4Souls Canada.

“We are always looking at ways we can give back to the community – and this idea was even better as we are able to apply our skills and expertise as a full service restoration company. Normally the damage we see to people’s belongings are a result of fire or floods, yet we can still use similar techniques to remove dirt and grime from the shoes.” Explains Matt Douglas of CRCS Disaster Kleenup.

CRCS plans to release a video capturing the entire initiative this fall.
